BO3 put on hold until 2015?

It looks as though Sledgehammer Games might be entering the fold this year after Activision announced that Call of Duty will be entering a three year development cycle. This means that a Black Ops 3 release won't be possible until November, 2015. Speaking on their website, Sledgehammer Games CEO Glen Schofield and Vice President Michael Condrey stated:
Having the honor of developing the new, next generation of Call of Duty is a developer’s dream come true. All of us here at Sledgehammer Games have a shared vision to create the best work of our lives. The next Call of Duty represents a new era for this amazing franchise, and we look forward to sharing what we have been working on.
Does this mean that we won't be seeing another Infinity Ward game until 2016? Will this give the various development studios time to revamp the engine and take COD in newer directions?

Note that this three year cycle will probably look a bit like this:

  • 2014: Sledgehammer Games.
  • 2015: Treyarch.
  • 2016: Infinity Ward.
  • 2017: Sledgehammer Games.
  • 2018: Treyarch.
  • 2019: Infinity Ward.

Treyarch working on their next AAA game

If you read some of the job positions that are present on Treyarch's website, you'll see that they are looking to fill a number of key roles. One such vacancy is for a "Senior Vehicle / Weapons Artist". According to the listing, the lucky candidate will be given the task of designing and modelling "next-gen" vehicles, as well as weapons and other rigid props. The opening summary pretty much proves that Treyarch are currently working on a next gen Call of Duty title:
We are seeking a razor-sharp Senior 3D Artist who will be designing, modeling, and texturing next gen vehicles, weapons and props for our next AAA game.
This urgency to fill certain key positions might fly in the face of what a lot of people on the Internet have been postulating: That Sledgehammer Games are developing the next COD and that each studio will be given a two year development time-frame instead of one.

James C. Burns hints at Black Ops 3

Voice actor James C. Burns, the voice of Sergeant Frank Woods, has hinted on Twitter that Treyarch will be creating the third installment of the Black Ops series:
#blackops3 #nextcod Oh what will tomorrow bring?
A day after the above tweet was posted, Burns decided to tease COD fans with another:
@Sgt_Frank_Woods #blackopz Just heard from The Sarge , mission going according to plan. Will brief you guys ASAP.
My guess is that he is referring to an official announcement that will be made in the upcoming months. If James is returning as a voice actor, what does that mean for the story line and his character?
